Card-R Compressed Air Dryer
Drying of Plastics Granulates
As a company that specializes in peripheral devices for the further processing of plastics granulates, Farrag Tech GmbH of Wolfurt, Austria, is presenting a development of their Card-M/L-Systems with its two-cycle principle. In the upper part of the drying container, the Card-R compressed air dryer uses pre-heated air – a byproduct of the compressed air supply that other systems usually release to the surroundings as exhaust. By integrating air- or oil-driven heat exchangers, waste air is regained at approx. 80–90 °C within the compressor housing. Under certain circumstances and depending on the material, no additional heating may be required in order to raise the temperature of the material being used to its required drying temperature. The plastic granulate dried this way is subsequently conveyed to the actual drying process in the lower part of the container. Given the same materials throughput, the manufacturer claims that the compressed air requirement can be reduced up to 30 % by comparison.
Since optimum utilization of the air compressor is a prerequisite for high system efficiency, the manufacturer calculates the compressor power for Card-R according to individual customer requirements.
