Kneader for Cable Compounds
Buss AG, Pratteln, Switzerland, has optimized the MX 105-22 F for compounding halogen-free, flame-retardant (HFFR) cable compounds for throughputs up to 1500 kg/h (Fig. 1). The mechanical innovations cover a combined step-down and lifting gear, which obtained improved efficiency by, among other measures, improved intermeshing. According to the manufacturer, the transmission is now quieter, and the electrical drives are designed to permit a high efficiency in operation. Thanks to the increase in the opening angle to 120°, the processing section in this design is more easily accessible, and thereby more maintenance and user friendly.
Buss has also redesigned the discharge extruder with a removable pelletizing unit, which now needs less space. The discharge screw is now electrically heated and air cooled, which increases the operating reliability. The modified pelletizer can be completely removed and, according to the manufacturer, offers a high cutting quality at moderate speeds thanks to a three-vane knife arm. The MX series from Buss is equipped with state-of-the-art control systems (Simatic S7-1500 Failsafe) and TP-2200-Comfort visualization as standard features. The user panel can be accommodated in the switch cabinet or alternatively be provided separated as a table-mounted version.
