Hollow Articles by the IMA Process
Billion SAS, Bellignat, France, is attracting attention with an exhibit for manufacturing plastics hollow articles. IMA (in-mold assembly), developed by the French mold manufacturer JP Grosfilley SAS, based in Martignat, France, permits two part halves to be molded in the injection mold to produce a hollow article. If the preforms are rotated into position, metal inserts, filters or the like can also be integrated. In the application at the trade show, this will be an additional element containing a liquid in its interior. The idea was the result of cooperation between the French injection molding machine manufacturer and MIHB, Groissiat, France.
