Cabelec Compounds and Concentrates

Customizing Electrical Conductivity

Biesterfeld AG in Hamburg, Germany, is distributor for the new electrically conductive Cabelec products of Cabot Corporation in Germany, France and Poland. One of the products will be the Cabelec CA6410 compound based on PP, which was specially designed for injection molding applications. It offers good flowability, while at the same time being highly resistant to impact. It is well suited for applications such as conductive packaging and transport boxes or pallets.

In addition to compounds, electrically conductive concentrates are also included in the range of products. Subject to the respective requirement to conductivity, they can be mixed to meet the particular purpose. The production methods applied make it possible to produce highly concentrated products that offer up to 65 % miscibility. The producer says that this will enable the processor to adjust electrical as well as mechanical properties of the final product to meet the individual requirements of the user. This is true for both injection molding and extrusion applications.

For sheet extrusion, Cabot offers the newly developed Cabelec CC6296 concentrate based on HIPS. The material is highly conductive and extremely flexible when submitted to thermoforming. What is more, concentrates based on PE and PP are available.

Biesterfeld will present the new products at the K trade show together with Cabot in Hall 5, Booth B18.
