Baymedix FR product line
PU Foam for the Healing Process
With its Baymedix FR product line, Bayer MaterialScience AG, Leverkusen, Germany, has developed the raw materials for functional medical wound dressings. They promote healing of the wound and offer versatility in use. Polyurethane foams with a certain combination of properties provide the basis for the dressings. The foams can be combined with thermoplastic polyurethane film (grade: Platilon), making them permeable to water vapor and allowing the wound to breathe.
The dressings provide enhanced mechanical stability and are flexible as well as biocompatible. They absorb aqueous fluids such as wound secretions and prevent them from reaching the outside surface. At the same time, the foams do not swell. The film is gentle on the skin, keep dirt and microbes away from the wound and promote rapid healing.
A special characteristic of these foams is their moldability under heat. As a result, the dressings can be preformed for specific applications and retain this shape for the duration of use. When no specific requirements regarding shape must be met, the product is available by the roll.
