The Barlog Group, with its companies Barlog Plastics GmbH, Overath and Bahsys GmbH, Overath, Germany, showcases a wide range of compounds for the mobility of tomorrow under the brand name Kebablend. These materials include thermally conductive plastics for thermal management of batteries in electric vehicles and magnetically soft injection molding materials for magnetic flow guidance, such as for contactless energy transfer. Barlog will also exhibit new compounds for electromagnetic shielding and a wide range of lightweight construction materials.

Magnetic Compounds for Producing Lightweight Electric Motors

The portfolio also includes magnetic compounds for producing lightweight electric motors. A research project has been under way to find out how plastics can make electric motors lighter. In the ProLemo electric motor developed in this project, instead of a single heavy rotor with a core of laminated metal sheets, there are eight segmented rotor disks made from lightweight plastic. At the present time, the Kebablend M and MW product ranges comprise a large number of carrier polymers such as PA6, PA12, PPS or PPA and various soft magnetic fillers such as iron powder and “hard” magnetic materials such as barium ferrite or rare earth compounds, which are only magnetized in the injection mold.

Barlog lso features new products made from recycled PET bottles, which can be used as sustainable alternatives to conventional materials such as PBT or ABS. Besides mechanical recycling, the company is also working with strategic partners on new options for chemical recycling.
