Animated Injection Molding
3-D Simulator for an All-Electric Machine
The French injection molding machine manufacturer Billion recently introduced a software tool called “Billion Touch 3D.” The tool, developed in cooperation with Simlinx, a Lyon-based specialist in 3-D modeling software, consists of a three-dimensional virtual animation of the Select all-electric injection molding machine as one- and two-component models. Running on both PCs and tablets, the application opens up a wide variety of perspectives in sales and marketing, and can also be used for training and maintenance purposes.
It offers a realistic representation of the injection molding machines from all sides, even showing components concealed behind the covers. In contrast to conventional static presentations on paper, the user is completely immersed in the world of injection molding production and can even access the system internals to gain a picture of all the machine and mold functions and try them out, just as in a video game. According to Billion, this expandable tool is already being upgraded. The software addresses all generations, particularly younger people of course, who are involved in new (information) technologies and plastics processing. The “unity3d” multiplatform system used by Simlinx, which it claims is a market leader, is particularly open and effective, and is now used by over 275,000 developers.
