Albis Hygienic Material

Combats Microbes

In medical and food technology, one-hundred percent hygiene is a cardinal principle. To fulfill these requirements and prevent the spread of pathogens, germs and bacteria, Albis Plastic GmbH, based in Hamburg, Germany, has now added the new product range "Albis Hygienic Material" to its portfolio. Containing newly developed additives based on copper as the active substance, the new masterbatch solution allows direct production of antimicrobially modified plastics without the need for coating.

As a natural trace element, copper is harmless to humans and animals and therefore an excellent basis for the new product range. The antimicrobial properties of copper have been proven for decades in other applications. Masterbatch solutions based on the newly developed active substance are now available for all important polymers. They are supplied as pure additive solutions or as colored formulations under the brand name Alcolor Function.
