Akroloy in plastic office binders

Stable yet Lightweight

Akroloy in plastic office binders

Making products for the modern office that brighten your workday is the task that Swedish office supplies manufacturer Keba AB has set itself. At the same time, the products must have strong visual appeal and also meet critical environmental criteria.

The covers and spine of the tough plastic office binders from Keba were already made of polypropylene. However, for the mechanism, the company had previously relied on metal to provide a sturdy material. In addition to the problem of recycling, using metal also increases the weight of the binder and makes it less flexible in adapting to the individual characteristics of the filing mechanisms in different European countries.

Together with plastics distributor K.D. Feddersen Norden AB, based in Anderstorp, Sweden, Keba started searching for a suitable plastic to replace the metal that was being used. An optimum combination of strength and flexibility was required. A suitable material was found in Akroloy, a polyamide 66 blend with 50% glass fiber reinforcement. This product family from the house of Akro-Plastic has been specifically developed for the diverse applications that arise in metal replacement.
