Low-Halogen Flame Retardants

Halogenated flame retardant systems provide better mechanical properties and toughness than halogen-free flame retardants, thanks to their effectiveness and meltability. For this reason, there are still many applications today that can only meet service requirements with halogenated flame retardants.

After extensive tests, Bada AG, Bühl, Germany, has developed a new flame retardant package in which the usual quantities of flame retardant are substantially reduced. Because of its good compatibility and thermal stability, this newly developed flame retardant system can be used in almost all the plastics produced by the compounder. These include the brands Badamid (PA6, PA66, PA66/6, PA6/6T, PPA, PA10T, PA610, PA612, PA12, PA1212), Badadur (PBT), Badaflex (TPE-S), various grades manufactured under license from BASF SE, Ludwigshafen, Germany, as well as Badalac (ABS), Badaprene (TPV), and Badatron (PPS).
