Tool-Based ActiveGate Injection Molding Technologies
Flow Control for High Product Quality
At NPE 2015, Synventive Molding Solutions, a subsidiary of Barnes Group Inc., displayed its latest advances in its activeGate tool-based molding series. The systems employ position, pressure and temperature sensors inside the hot runner and the cavities to provide independent melt flow control at each individual gate.
The nuGate control system precisely controls each valve pin’s position, acceleration, velocity and stroke for pneumatic valve pin actuation in the hot runner system. According to the manufacturer, the benefits are significant: optimum quality surface finishes, increased production rates, less scrap, faster mold start-ups and the ability to mold components with complex geometries. hGate, the latest product in the activeGate series offers the same level of control for hydraulic valve gate systems.
Another new product displayed by Synventive at NPE 2015 was a new line of plug-and-play modular actuator cylinders for valve-gated hot runner systems. These actuators feature plug-and-play design (bolted onto the manifold, pre-plumbed, pre-wired and pre-tested), easy-access pin adjustment, automatic bleed, easy pin decoupling, and improved thermal profile to prevent overheating. The cooling plate has a removable plug for easier cleaning.
