A Ring Connector for Hot-Runner Systems
Closed Season for Mold Platens
In conventional hot-runner systems, each individual actuator must be connected with four lines, two for the hydraulics and two for the cooling. An eight-cavity system, for example, thus requires 32 lines for this purpose alone. As an alternative, the new patented pipeLine solution from PSG Plastic Service GmbH, Mannheim, Germany, connects the actuator with only two lines, a pressure line and a return line. Available for hot-runner systems of four actuators and more, it reduces the complexity of mold construction, thus offering a range of technical and economic advantages. Because of the reduced number of pipes, the milled grooves in the mold platen can be kept smaller. This reduces the machining effort and generally increases the robustness of the mold platen. In addition, according to the manufacturer, the new ring connector system permits delay-free switching of the valves and requires fewer couplings than traditional connecting systems. The pipeLine will be premiered at Fakuma in mid-October.
