Modular Industry 4.0 Solutions from Kistler
High quality, efficiency and transparency in injection molding – the Kistler Group is working constantly on further developing its ComoNeo process monitoring system to meet these requirements: on one hand to accommodate new applications and, on the other, to guarantee seamless, cost-efficient process optimization.
A Number of Modular Functions
Users are provided with a number of modular functions that utilize cavity pressures read by Kistler sensors to support predictive control of the injection molding process and so boost product quality and cost-effectiveness. Version 3.0 of the Comoneo process monitoring system offers a combination of support, monitoring, control and prediction functions that the requirements of process transparency needed for Industry 4.0.
Kistler has integrated the Stasa QC prediction software into ComoNeo. It uses readings and statistical analyses to predict the quality of the manufactured parts and evaluate them within the tolerance bands. This special type of process monitoring is of particular interest to manufacturers of high-grade parts who operate in safety-critical areas and medical technology.
Overview of the Entire Injection Molding Production
Users can tailor their own monitoring package from a wide range of functions. The ComoDataCenter is where everything comes together: a database that stores all the process data and establishes seamless communication with higher-level systems. This provides users with a comprehensive overview of their entire injection molding production that can serve as a starting point for ongoing analysis and optimization.
Kistler has taken a further step in the expansion of its industry 4.0 expertise by acquiring IOS GmbH. The MES developed by IOS is ideal for use in the plastics processing industry. It too has a modular structure. Whether they opt for the entry-level or the full version, users can decide on the depth and scope of their solution. Aside from machine and operation data acquisition, freely selectable function modules include production planning, maintenance management and ERP link. Modules such as batch traceability or workstation-based staff time logging are available for digitizing additional production processes. Older machines can also be connected to the MES – either via a PLC or with the assistance of a master computer interface.
