Wirthwein Pushes Global Brand Presence
Renaming of Four Subsidiaries Worldwide
On 1 July 2020, the renaming of four subsidiaries of Wirthwein AG worldwide will come into effect. Extensive preparations have already been underway for several months, as the requirements for such a step are very different internationally. In total, this affects four companies - and this in three different countries: Germany, Spain and the USA, here the two Wirthwein locations in North and South Carolina.
The four changes of name in detail
The largest emotional step is being taken by the 350 or so employees of Riegler GmbH & Co. KG. The company was founded by the Riegler family as early as 1946 and, even after the purchase by Wirthwein AG in 2005, continued to operate under the name "Riegler GmbH & Co. KG" even after the purchase by Wirthwein AG in 2005. The company will now, after 74 years, be renamed Riegler and on 1 July 2020 Wirthwein Medical GmbH & Co. KG as of 1 July 2020. At three locations in Mühltal/Lower Ramstadt and Ober-Ramstadt in Hesse, plastic components and packaging materials for the medical technology, diagnostics and pharmaceutical business areas are produced under clean room conditions.
Carolina Technical Plastics Corp. becomes Wirthwein New Bern Corp., which is and will remain New Bern in North Carolina. The company was founded in 2003 and with around 100 employees produces plastic components and assemblies for the automotive, railway and household appliance sectors.
The second subsidiary in the USA, South Carolina Plastics, LLC, which was founded in 2012, will also receive a new name and will be called Wirthwein Fountain Inn, LLC as of July 1, 2020. The company with its approximately 50 employees mainly produces technical plastic components for the automotive industry, and to a lesser extent also for a long-standing rail customer.
Following the logic of "Wirthwein plus city name", the Spanish company was also renamed, so on 1 July 2020, Plásticos Zaragón S.L. became Wirthwein Zaragoza S.L. Since 2012, Wirthwein has been producing plastic components for the automotive, electrical industry and household appliance sectors here in northeastern Spain with around 40 employees.
Request for change of name
Marcus Wirthwein explains the reasons for the change of name: "We want to further strengthen our position as a leading manufacturer of plastic-based components, assemblies and systems for innovative key industries". The desire to change the name was expressed by the international plant managers to marketing manager Daniela Pfeuffer: "The plants have wanted to use 'Wirthwein' in the company name for several years now, which confirms that we have done some things right with the positioning of the 'Wirthwein' brand name after all".
The name 'Wirthwein' is now internationally known in the plastics industry and stands for a globally active, versatile, high-performance and innovative family business. Wirthwein's degree of recognition is essential for the international sales teams of the two business unit managers, Lars Lederer in the automotive sector and Klaus Seybold for the household appliances and electrical industry. "It is of course a great advantage for us if a potential customer can also find us in the USA or in Spain under the search term 'Wirthwein'," the two sales managers say in unison.
Dr. Thomas Jakob, who as head of the Medical Technology Business Unit also has overall responsibility for the medical technology company based in Mühltal near Darmstadt, has another argument for the change of name: "For our business partners of the former Riegler GmbH & Co. KG, the brand name 'Wirthwein' implies that they belong to an international group of companies, which means that we expect additional synergies in the globally networked projects".
No structural changes
The changes of name of the four companies mentioned above are purely name changes, in which the existing business forms and the organisational and business structures are retained. Postal addresses and telephone numbers, contact persons, terms and conditions of business and agreements, bank details, VAT numbers and the competent registration courts also remain unchanged.
In addition to the company names, however, the e-mail addresses of employees and the Internet addresses will change; these are now:
