Vinyl 2010: Launch of New Online Forum

Following the enormous success of the 2009 Essay Competition, Vinyl 2010 has launched the Sustainable Thinking Platform, a new online forum to discuss and learn about sustainability issues. The platform will host a multimedia competition seeking the best essays, pictures and videos to contribute to the debate that was initiated last year.

Young people from all around the world are invited to discuss how the use of natural resources could be made compatible with the needs of today’s consumers and industrial societies. Participants will be asked to address the following question: Faced with increasing resource scarcity, how can young people contribute to the promotion of sustainable production and consumption?

In 2010 there will be two editions of this multimedia competition, the first of which runs from 1 April to 31 July.

In a departure from the 2009 Essay Competition, submissions will be initially rated in a first round by the online platform members. Finalists will then be judged by a panel comprised of international journalists and industry representatives.

In 2010 there will be two editions of this multimedia competition, the first of which runs from 1 April to 31 July. The second round will be launched in August and the topic will be announced closer to the date.
