VDI: Symposium in Sao Paulo
The 16th VDI (Association of German Engineers) Plastics Symposium in Sao Paulo/Brazil was concerned with processes, systems and periphery of injection moulding. On August 14 and 15, lectures were held by representatives of renowned European companies such as Kistler, Battenfeld, Netstal, Krauss-Maffei, BASF, Ticona and Wittmann. Hosted by moderator Prof. Dr.-Ing. Erwin Schwab, Institute for Plastics Machinery, Iserlohn, some major Brazilian companies, among them Moura-Schwank, Mecalor, Reimelt, Randon and ABML, also introduced their latest technologies. Twenty lectures dealt with a wide range of subjects, e.g. quality assurance, monitoring systems, the up-to-date plant, cooling water, micro injection, screw design, biodegradable polymers, material supply and recycling. The symposium is held annually, and it had 160 visitors from Brazil, this year.
The Brazil section of VDI (Association of German Engineers) was founded in 1956. In 1986 it was registered as a self-contained legal personality named VDI-Associação Técnica Brasil-Alemanha. It has grown to comprise almost 600 members today, and has established a branch in Rio de Janeiro.
