SPE Thermoforming Division Call for Entries in Student Parts Competition
The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Thermoforming Division has announced a call for entries in its third annual Student Parts Competition, encouraging students to specify and collaborate on a potential thermoformed application. The submission deadline is June 30, 2015.
The Competition will be held in conjunction with the 24th SPE Thermoforming Conference, which will take place August 31-September 2 at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel and the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Georgia. Awards for winning entries will be presented at the Thermoforming Awards Dinner on Tuesday, September 1, at the hotel.
Students are invited to submit an actual part or a design project that would involve the thermoforming and extrusion processes relevant to the thermoforming industry. They may choose their own material, but the product must be thermoformed. Judges will evaluate submissions by considering design innovation, process use, cost analysis, and overall creativity.
A trophy will be presented to the university that submits the winning entry. Awards of USD 1,000 and USD 500 will be awarded to students for the first- and second-prize winners, respectively.
