Solvay: First Phase of Sulfone Expansion Completed
Solvay Advanced Polymers announced the completion of two major expansion projects as part of its multi-phase, comprehensive sulfone expansion plan. The company commissioned its new Radel sulfone assets at its Marietta, Ohio, USA, facility, nearly tripling its production capability. In addition, the company has expanded its sulfone assets in Augusta, Georgia, increasing that site’s production of the key monomer, 4-4 dichlorodiphenyl sulfone.
With the completion of these recent expansion efforts and the start of its phase two projects, Solvay Advanced Polymers will invest well in excess of USD 100 million in growing its leadership position in sulfone polymer and monomer production. The company’s strategic sulfone plan also includes its intention to further develop production assets and capabilities at its sites in Asia.
