Royal Award for Manufacturer
Meech International Wins 2019 Queen’s Award
For the third time in ten years, Meech International has been awarded the UK’s most prestigious award for business achievement according to the company: the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade. This reaffirms Meech’s position as one of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of static control, web cleaning, compressed air technology and surface cleaning products.
Winners of the accolade in 2009 and 2012, Oxfordshire-based Meech International has been granted the award for sustained year on year growth in overseas sales over the last three years, with overseas earnings growing by 64% in that period.
According to the company, Meech’s success is driven by a strategy that focuses sales activity into specific geographic areas and market segments where the company’s products can be differentiated over those of competitors, and where the company can identify and build relationships with customers.
The Awards are made each year by the Queen, on the advice of the Prime Minister, who is assisted by an Advisory Committee that includes representatives of Government, industry and commerce, and the trade unions.
“It’s a huge honor to have been selected for a Queen’s Award for the third time,” says Meech CEO, Chris Francis. “I am delighted that the hard work and dedication put in by our staff around the world has been recognized once again.
“The award is recognition of the sustained sales growth we’ve achieved over several years,” Francis concludes. “And at the heart of that success is the fact that we’re so much more than just a supplier to our customers. We are very much a business partner, heavily invested in their success and able to tailor our products and services to individual business needs. Committing to this strategy has delivered us substantial growth year on year for well over a decade now and we expect this trend to continue in the years to come."
About the Queens Awards Awards
The Queens Awards are made each year by the Queen, on the advice of the Prime Minister, who is assisted by an Advisory Committee that includes representatives of Government, industry and commerce, and the trade unions. The Queen's Awards Office hosts a celebratory reception for the winners, with a congratulatory speech usually given by a member of the Royal Family. The reception is held as near as possible to the public announcement, which is made annually on the Queen's personal birthday; 21 April. At a separate ceremony, held later at the winner's premises, a presentation is made by the Queen's representative, the Lord Lieutenant of the County. The Awards are given solely on merit, and competition is fierce. The number of Awards presented each year is not pre-set and depends on the quality of the applications received.
