Rehau Opens Automotive Plant in Hungary
On 14 October, Rehau AG+ Co, Rehau, Germany, has officially opened its new automotive plant in Györ, Hungary. In addition to top-modern injection molding, painting and assembly halls, the new automotive location in close proximity to Audi brings together premises for administration, fabrication, storage and logistics under one roof.
With this plant, the company increases the number of its production plants to 41 and the production capacity for the automotive division worldwide to 15 locations. Rehau has invested more than EUR 50 million into the new plant building measuring 24,000 square metres, which will be the future place of work for 200 new colleagues. Approximately 130 employees are currently working in a 3-shift system in production.
Rehau has been already assembling Audi bumper variants for various models in Györ since 2005, until now in a logistics centre, and has supplied them directly to the automotive manufacturer's conveyor belt. The bumpers for the A3 saloon car and convertible models as well as the front and back bumper systems for the Audi TT and the Q7 will be injection molded, painted and supplied just-in-time for the final, local assembly.
Plant manager of the facility is Alexander Ziehr. The first official act of the 37-year old, who is originally from Germany, was to invite more than 150 guests from Hungary, Austria and Germany to a plant tour.
