Rehau: German-Turkish Cooperation
In cooperation with the German Energy Center&College (GECC) and Yildiz University, a new centre of technological expertise is being set up in Istanbul, inspired by Rehau AG + Co, Rehau, Germany. The goal is to achieve international cooperation and training in the field of energy efficient technologies for making use of renewable energy sources. The project is being sponsored by Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (DEG). Those in charge of the project signed the cooperation agreement a short while ago.
Yildiz University is one of the best in the country. In the future, the training facility is intended to also train German Building Energy Managers. The curriculum is based on German training but takes account of the particularities of the Turkish training and university system and their methods. The curriculum covers energy and water distribution systems as well as ventilation, control and insulation systems for windows, ceilings and walls, plus sensor systems, heat pumps and domestic installations. The prospective Building Energy Managers practice installing the products and testing them in operation. The intention is for them to learn how the systems must interact one with the other in order to achieve the best possible results. This is the practical underpinning of the theoretical work done in the university and vocational college environments. The training is of a level that requires suitable preliminary training such as studies in construction or supply engineering, or architectural studies. Together with other German companies, Rehau is contributing to this center of technological expertise the equipment as well as knowhow when it comes to energy efficiency and sustainable construction methods. The first 150 German Energy Managers are to be trained in Turkey before this year is out. From 2014 the plan is to achieve up to 800 graduates a year.
