The seats (and many of their components, such as armrests, bolts and supports) in several Brazilian stadiums hosting the 2014 World Cup are made of the flame-retardant engineering plastics Radiflam manufactured by the Italian company RadiciGroup, Bergamo.
According to the company, RadiciGroup is the first producer in Brazil to supply certified engineering plastics specifically for the manufacture of stadium seat components. The seats in six of the twelve stadiums feature the nylon 6 flame-retardant Radiflam range. RadiciGroup carried out extensive development work in order to meet the rigorous requirements imposed not only by Fifa but also by new construction regulations for safety and comfort.
In addition to the PA6 materials used in the manufacture of the stadium seats and components (like armrests, bolts, supports and seats), the Radiflam range includes PA6.6 and PBT materials combining flame-retardant characteristics with exceptional electrical and mechanical properties. Available in a vast portfolio of colors, Radiflam ensures high quality, performance and safety.
In order to support its commitment in South America RadiciGroup has also created a state-of-the-art R&D function in South America at Radici Plastics Ltda in Sao Paolo to offer more advanced technical development support for local customers.
