PlasticsEurope: Plastics Industry Donates Money for Children
During its Open Day on 13 September, the Johan Cruyff Foundation received 100 000 EUR from the Association of Plastics Manufacturers, PlasticsEurope. The Foundation provides handicapped children with sports equipment and projects that help them develop their skills. With its donation, PlasticsEurope supports projects that are aimed at development of mentally and/or physically handicapped children through sports and play, especially in the regions of Eastern Europe and Eurasia.
The Association has raised the money through its website "Kick to Give". There, visitors are challenged to take a penalty kick and beat the goalkeeper. For each attempt or click, whether successful or not, PlasticsEurope makes a donation. Millions of people form all parts of the world have so far taken part in this initiative. The website www.kicktogive.org can be accessed until the end of 2006. The money generated in the coming period will be directed to the "Kits for Kids" project of PlasticsEurope, which aims at providing football kits to underprivileged children across Europe.
