New Partnership between Nordmann, Rassmann and Faci
Nordmann, Rassmann GmbH, Hamburg, Germany, and Faci S.p.A., Carasco, Italy, will be starting a new partnership as of 1 January 2017, in which Nordmann, Rassmann will be taking over the distribution of a number of Faci’s high-quality metallic soaps – e.g. calcium stearate, zinc stearate, magnesium stearate, sodium stearate and aluminium stearate – and other additives in Germany. Faci’s metallic soaps and fatty acid esters are used in a large number of different industries.
Metallic soaps are formed by combining long-chain fatty acids with a metal oxide while fatty acid esters are produced by combining fatty acids with alcohols. In the plastics industry, metallic soaps and fatty acid esters are used in the production of PVC products, as well as in the processing of various different plastics such as polyamide, polyethylene, poly-propylene, ABS and fiber-reinforced plastics (SMC, BMC). In technical processes, metallic soaps also serve as anti-caking or flow agents, i.e. to assist in the manufacture of their resulting products. In the construction and paint/coatings industries, metallic soaps are used as hydrophobing agents, matting agents and abrasive materials. They are also utilized as release/separating agents and lubricants in the rubber, paper (as a complexing agent for color pigments in sandpaper, for instance) and metal industries.
With its seven production sites in Europe, Asia and the USA, the Faci Group is the largest producer of metallic soaps worldwide, as well as a world leader in the manufacture of plastics additives. As the head of The NRC Group, Nordmann, Rassmann GmbH in turn provides first-class commercial and application-specific advice as well as comprehensive logistics services to customers at each of its 16 international locations. Today, The NRC Group is one of Europe’s number-one sales and marketing organizations in chemical distribution.
