A total of 85 new trainees and students from the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University, Germany, began their apprenticeship at Arburg GmbH + Co KG, Lossburg, Germany, on 2 September 2019. That is more than ever before. The apprenticeship quota of around 10% shows Arburg's great commitment and pioneering role in terms of qualified apprenticeship, reports the company.

In Arburg’s successful apprenticeship history spanning 70 years, well over 1800 young people have completed their apprenticeship or studies at the headquarters of the family-run company in Lossburg.

Thorough Apprenticeship

Managing Partner Renate Keinath, responsible for human resources management at Arburg, welcomed the new trainees and students on behalf of the partners and management, the apprenticeship team and all employees: “We are committed to providing you with excellent professional apprenticeship. That's because we believe in skilled specialists to move our company forward with their extensive expertise. The impressive number of current 252 trainees and students is proof of the importance we attach to thorough apprenticeship.”

Arburg works closely with the vocational schools and cooperative universities in the federal state to maintain the high level of apprenticeship and is the first company in Baden-Württemberg to have received triple quality certification.

An Exciting Induction Week

In order to make the transition from school to working life easier, the newcomers can expect an exciting introductory week following the official welcoming ceremony. During this week they have an opportunity to become more familiar with the company, the individual departments and the product range. In addition to a detailed tour of the company, the program also includes team events and a barbecue dinner.

To hone their practical skills, the newcomers will find ideal conditions in the 2000 m2 apprenticeship center, according to the company. During their apprenticeship time, they will also pass through the individual departments and work in interdisciplinary project groups. This includes activities in the fields of recruitment marketing and the apprenticeship homepage as well as involvement with children and young people in numerous events, including the Plastic Experience Day, the Technolino Day, the Girls Days, the annual Arburg Info Days and Top Job Fair as well as the Summer Academy and the summer holiday program.

Program Covers 19 Skilled Professions

Arburg's apprenticeship program is wide-ranging and currently includes 19 professions and degree courses. This year, 28 students of industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, (business) information technology and electrical engineering will complete their practical apprenticeship at Arburg.

The two new business studies courses in media and communications management, as well as in forwarding, transport and logistics, are part of the mix for the first time.

In addition, there are eleven and 46 trainees respectively, who are training for commercial and technical professions and who plan to become mechatronics technicians, process engineers, industrial mechanics, electronics technicians for automation technology, industrial clerks or technical product designers.

Arburg is already looking for interested and committed young personalities for the year 2020. Anyone interested in training or studying at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University will find all relevant information as well as the online application portal at www.arburg.com/en/careers/apprenticeship
