Stretchier Films from Thinner Layers
First Macchi Nine-Layer Coextrusion Line in Germany
Macchi SPA, Venegono Inferiore, Italy, recently delivered and installed its first 9-layer coextrusion plant to Duoplast AG, Lauterbach, Germany, a leading producer of agricultural film in Germany.
The line consists of seven extruders, with screws of 55 mm diameter, two 65-mm extruders as well as a 500-mm film blow head and an automatic BO Plus dual-winding machine. The line has a capacity of about 500 kg/h.
Four New Technical Developments Included
The line also includes some new technical developments, such as a recirculating air system for slashing energy consumption, a special system for processing sticky films, a fully automated system for unloading the finished rolls and the “Macchi 4.0” software system for sharing production data.
The line is designed for the development of new products in agriculture, stretch-film applications for securing loads, and barrier films for food. With the 9-layer technology, Duo Plast can produce stretch films even more efficiently, in thinner layers and with greater elasticity, and expand its portfolio of high-performance films obtained from recycled material and polymers from renewable raw materials.
