Mati: Russian Chair Celebrates 65th Anniversary

65 years ago, the chemist Prof. I. P. Losev founded the Chair of “Technology of Non-Metallic Materials”

associated to the former Institute of Aviation Technology. At present, it is the oldest chair in Russia, dedicated to teach and train experts in the field of plastics processing, and is part of “MATI” Technical University in Moscow, today. Prof. S. V. Bucharov has been holding it since 1995. Altogether, more than 2,000 experts have been trained and 150 engineers have received their doctor’s degree. Among other subjects, the chair teaches chemistry and physics, along with the compositions and properties of plastics, composite materials as well as processing techniques and their respective machines and tools. Complementary areas of tuition are joining technology, quality assurance and projection of technological processes, as well as repairing of plastics parts.
