LWB-Steinl and REP Set up a Joint Venture in China
The two rubber and elastomer injection molding machine manufacturers LWB-Steinl GmbH & Co. KG, Altdorf, Germany, and REP International, Corbas, France, will cooperate on the Chinese market effective immediately. For that purpose both companies have founded a joint venture company under the name "United Rubber & Plastic Machinery (Langfang) Ltd", in short URP, for sales and service, as well as the production of injection molding machines. The alliance between the two companies is exclusive for the Chinese market, abroad both companies will continue to run their business activities independently.
The company will be headed by Wang Xiao Bo, the former CEO of REP-Beijing. The Production site of the new joint venture is Langfang in Hebei province, about 60 kilometers southeast of Beijing, where LWB-Steinl has manufactured rubber injection molding machines in a first phase since 2009. In a new plant with a production area of 2,500 m², scheduled for completion by the end of 2014, machines, initially exclusively for the Chinese market, will be produced.
Both LWB and REP have been present in China for many years. Overlaps in the machine program are little, thus offering great potential for synergies through the alliance. Accordingly both companies are pooling their resources and will provide machines through the new company URP specially developed for the Chinese market, whose specifications are clearly demarcated from the European factory specifications with respect to the scope of options and the possible special equipment. The development concept is to combine locally sourced components with European know-how. The aim is to offer competitive equipment both for the local rubber profile processors, as well as the manufacturers of rubber parts. Existing molds and tools, designed for REP- or LWB- machines will fit the new machine types.
