Kuka: Continued Growth in Asia
Kuka Roboter GmbH, Augsburg, Germany, one of the world’s leading suppliers of robots and automated production systems and solutions, has laid the foundation stone for a new production plant in Shanghai, China. As the company reports, it intends to support the steadily growing market for automation in Asia. The plant, covering 20,000 m2, is planned to come on stream in 2013. At the new site, around 350 employees will handle the production, marketing and sale of Kuka robots in Asia. In the first year, the robot manufacturer expects additional assembly capacity for 3,000 robots and controls. This will have risen to 5,000 units by 2015. According to the Augsburg HQ, production will correspond one-to-one to German standards.
