LG Electronics (Pyeongtaek-si, Korea) and KraussMaffei Technologies GmbH, Munich, Germany, have agreed to work together to drive technological development in plastics processing for electronics devices. The agreement was signed at a ceremony in Munich and LG Electronics also ordered more injection molding machines from KraussMaffei’s MX series. The machines will be installed in the development department of the company’s Mold Technology Center, currently under construction in Pyeongtaek-si, Korea. The cooperation agreement is a logical further step in a working partnership that has already been in existence for three years and which began with the shipment of MX injection molding machines to LG Electronics.

To ensure that LG Electronics has the scope to handle a range of development projects for future products, the injection molding machines were supplied with a number of specific process modules. With module packages such as SpinForm (for the production of multicomponent parts), they are ready for universal use in the LG Research & Development Center. The development focus is on new solutions for cost-competitive, efficient and variable production of plastic components for electronics equipment.
