At the K 2013 Preview in Düsseldorf, Germany, which takes place from 1 until 3 July 2013, eighty journalists with a special focus on the plastics and rubber industry from more than thirty countries will receive an update on the current state of affairs in the run up to the trade show. The organizers of K 2013 will inform their guests of the latest trends in the global plastics and rubber markets. Thirteen renowned exhibitors will provide a preview of their trade show premieres, which will be on display at the exhibition site in Düsseldorf in October.

About 3,100 exhibitors from all segments of the industry will present their latest developments at K 2013. The range of companies includes global players as well as start-up companies, the products on show encompass standard polymers as well as highly specialized products such as tailor-made molds. Among the exhibits are essentials for creating ideal production conditions such as industrial feedstock, machines and systems but also complex solutions for diverse user industries. Thanks to this wide variety, the most proliferate topics of the industry – energy, resource and material efficiency – are covered as well as special segments.

Among the companies from 60 countries, suppliers from Europe and particularly from Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and France will again be out in strength. Particularly heartening is that the countries of southern Europe so strongly affected by the euro crisis – such as Italy, Spain and even Greece – will have a stable or even stronger presence at K 2013 than in 2010.

At the same time, the situation presented at K 2013 provides a clear indication of the ongoing changes in the global market: since the last K exhibition in 2010, the number of exhibitors from Asia and the overall area booked by Asian businesses has increased significantly. The net exhibition area of the largest five Asian exhibiting nations of China, Taiwan, India, Japan and South Korea has grown by almost one third (more than 25,000 sqm in 2013 compared to 18,000 sqm in 2010).

Traditionally, the machinery and equipment suppliers represent the largest exhibitor group of the K trade show. This year, they will take up 119,000 sqm, more than two thirds of the overall exhibition area and about 4,000 sqm more than in 2010. The raw material producers will take up a net area of 37,500 sqm. The segment representing semi-finished goods, industrial components and reinforced plastics product will present its products and services on a net area of 11,000 sqm, which is the same as in 2010.

Werner M. Dornscheidt, President and CEO of Messe Düsseldorf, is convinced: “Nowhere else in the world will you receive such a comprehensive overview of the sheer variety and the complete range of raw materials, processing and application technology than at the K trade show in Düsseldorf.”
