John McGavigan: Expansion to China
John McGavigan Limited, a specialist decorative plastics and in-mold decorating business announced plans to expand into the Chinese market with the establishment of a new, state of the art manufacturing and development facility located in Suzhou, China.
Steve Mathers, a director of McGavigan, confirmed the new facility will be operational by Q3 2011, and would include a full compliment of technology and manufacturing processes common with those of its business in Scotland. Commenting on the investment Steve said, “We have recognised for some time the importance and potential China brings to our business. We have worked closely with many customers in China over recent years, and the demand for our capabilities are growing, and especially as our customer’s requirements and product specifications increase. But manufacturing alone is not sufficient, and it is our intention to establish product engineering and development capabilities into the team in Suzhou, so the service we provide matches in every way the high standards of expertise and service our customers have always assumed from us."
Today McGavigan is mainly focussed on the automotive interiors market, where it is best know for products like printed instrument cluster dials, high quality decorative molded bezels for audio and climate control panels, and decorated plastic interior trim components, supplying many of the global tier 1 automotive systems suppliers.
