JEC Asia: Composite Market to Double
The second session of JEC Asia that took place on October 14–16, 2009 in Singapore was a big success, with high participation rates for all of its programmes. Enriched with new conferences, forums, and new services such as the Business Meetings, Honorary Guests Programme and Networking Meetings, this international platform was joined by well-established brands and new players from India, the Middle East, and the Asia/Pacific region.
The major outcome of the conference: Asian countries are increasing their market share of global composite production at a faster rate than in the past few years. It is predicted that by 2015, the growth of the Asian market for composites will have doubled to reach 50% of total market volume – an estimated 5.15 metric tons (MT) out of a total 10.3 MT.
During the 3-day event 10 JEC Asia Awards were conferred. For the first time, a Life Achievement Award went to Mr Yong-Jun Cho, President of Hankuk Fiber Glass, for his devotion to the composites industry.
