ISOPA: 20 Year Anniversary

ISOPA is celebrating its 20 year anniversary as the trade association representing European producers of aromatic diisocyanates (MDI, TDI, and associated polyols).

ISOPA was set up in 1987 by the major suppliers of raw materials for polyurethanes in Europe in response to the CFC issue. Now it represents the industry with “One Voice” on a wide range of safety, health and environment (SHE) issues. Through ISOPA, the European industry has established itself as a leader on product stewardship through a series of groundbreaking programmes including safety during the transportation of chemicals, safe use of chemicals in Africa and the “Walk the Talk” initiative, an innovative programme on behavioural safety aimed at the shop floor.

From phasing out CFCs and HCFCs to end-of-life recycling information, the SHE performance of the raw materials has always been a priority for ISOPA. ISOPA is now engaged in preparing for REACH and is working on more than 30 dossiers covering MDI’s, TDI’s and polyols.

ISOPA members are Bayer, Dow, Elastogran (BASF), Huntsman, Lyondell, Repsol and Shell.
