Guest speaker Dieter Janout and IPI Managing Director Stephan Schüle with the Masters graduates Seref Gültabak, Efim Storck, Teodora Zheliazkova, Carlos Palacio and Gunnar Hallmann, with Roland Luxemburger, Head of Professional Development Programmes at Konstanz (from left to right, figue: IPI)

The second cohort to complete the Master of Engineering in Packaging Technology programme at IPI was awarded their degrees on 30th October 2013. Participants on the 2 year part-time course at the International Packaging Institute in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, came from Switzerland, Denmark, Bulgaria, Columbia and China underlining the sector’s global reach and the international standing of IPI.

After months of intensive study and submission of their Masters theses, the 6 graduates were conferred their degrees in a ceremony in Schaffhausen. The Master of Engineering in Packaging Technology is awarded by Konstanz University, was first launched in 2006 and is taught by specialist staff at IPI International Packaging Institute in Schaffhausen.

During the ceremony each graduate gave a short presentation of their Masters thesis, which covered a wide range of issues in the packaging area. The graduates, who pursued the Masters programme as professional development alongside their daily work in the sector, had chosen to investigate topics including particular technological challenges, the importance of social media in the packaging industry, the merging of 2 businesses and approaches to managing innovation and complexity in a company.

IPI International Packaging Institute was founded by well known companies in the packaging industry: Amcor, Bosch, Nestlé, SIG, Unilever. It is an education, networking and service center for the packaging industry. IPI offers a “Master of Engineering in Packaging Technology”, various seminars on packaging technology and individual tailor-made seminars directed to specific needs of companies.
