Husky: Strategy Change
Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd., Bolton, Ontario / Canada, is to discontinue production of injection molding machines in Europe. “This decision had nothing to do with the current state of the economy. After withdrawing from large machines last year, and our strategic decision to focus more strongly on food and beverage packaging, we now have sufficient capacity in Canada and China to serve our customers around the world”, Volker Neuber, Vice President Service and Sales Europe, Middle East and Africa, told Kunststoffe.
This decision will mean the loss of 100 out of 800 jobs in Dudelange by the end of 2009. In Luxembourg, Husky will concentrate on the production of hot-runner systems and molds for manufacturing PET preforms. The Luxembourg site will retain the pilot plant and keep its status as European headquarters.
