Huntsman: Partnership with Caiten
Huntsman Advanced Materials has teamed up with Caiten GmbH, St. Stefan, Austria, a leading engineering company providing solar solutions, in an open innovation process. The team is focusing on innovative module concepts which compare favourably to standard systems in build up, processing, thermal managements, inter-connection and costs by using advanced liquid polymers.
Recently developed modules are based on active temperature control using thermal conductive materials and cooling systems. The new technology is ideal to work in adverse southern climates and deserts. Modules are already 15% more effective and can be optimised up to 30% higher yield. While there is intensive material testing at the moment, this technology will be commercially available by 2011. In addition, the joint solution is paving the way for a new methane storage technology, which could solve the problem of solar energy storage and transport.
