Ground-Breaking Ceremonies in China and Mexico
Senoplast Expands in Strategically Important Markets
Senoplast Klepsch & Co. GmbH, Piesendorf, Austria, has broken the ground for its new factory in Suzhou near Shanghai, China. The new site will produce plastic sheet for thermoforming applications from 2020. Investment in the facility amounts to EUR 13 million. The Salzburg-based company in Austria is also continuing to grow at its site in Mexico, investing about EUR 7.7 million in production and administration.
The new production facility in China will cover some 4000 m2 in the first investment phase. It will manufacture sheet for bath tubs, interior and exterior vehicle parts and other applications. The plastic sheet and film will be supplied to the automotive and sanitary markets at first. In this first step, Senoplast will employ around 40 staff, including some specialists from the Senoplast headquarters in Piesendorf.
The Querétaro site has been operating since 2000 and supplies the Nafta area with plastic sheet and film. Here, Senoplast will expand the plant with a fourth production line. According to the company, the additional capacity is necessary for the growing South American markets. It will also be creating new office space totaling 850 m2 and new warehousing covering 3000 m2 . It is scheduled for completion in mid-September 2019. “With the expansion, we expect production to grow by 35% and the workforce by 20%,” explains Ing. Constancio Leal, CEO of Senoplast Mexico.
