FVTT: Pro4Plast Project
The injection moulding industry in Europe and the associated mould and tool making industry is to become more competitive. In the face of increasing competition from low-wage countries, many countries have charted a course of cost-effectively developing complex products with high functionality. To reinforce this approach, the Pro4Plast project was launched by the Fachverband Technische Teile e.V. (German association of technical parts) in Frankfurt am Main/Germany, which was promoted by the European Union as part of the “collective research” programme.
The project principally involves establishing a product development system, an extended simulation process for multicomponent parts and a viscosity measurement process that can be used by processors. For this purpose, a training and introduction model for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) is to be made available in Europe.
Involved in Pro4Plast are eight leading research institutes, eleven injection moulding and toolmaking SMEs and nine industrial associations from eight countries.
