Ferrostaal: Tyre-Recycling Plant in India
The fully automated tyre-recycling plant, which was supplied to the client, S&J Granulate Solutions Pvt. Ltd. by Ferrostaal, started production today in the Vapi region, Gujarat, India. It was built by the Danish mechanical engineering company Eldan Recycling. According to company information, the plant currently has the highest capacity of any such facility in India. The production line is capable of processing up to 5,000 kg of shredded used tyres per hour. The resulting granulated rubber meets international quality standards as it is 99.9 % free of steel and textiles.
With predicted economic growth of between seven and eight percent in 2011/2012, India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Thanks to its substantial manufacturing and service industries, the country offers immense recycling resources. As the recycled material can be used in the development of the country’s infrastructure, investment in such projects produces rapid returns, and the tyre-recycling plant meets the demands of energy efficiency and sustainability.
