Ferrostaal: Tire Recycling Project in Chile
Ferrostaal GmbH, Essen, Germany, has signed an agreement with the Chilean industrial firm Polambiente to supply a tire recycling line with an extensive range of services. The announcement was made at a German-Chilean business forum on 23–24 October in Essen. Within the framework of the order, Ferrostaal will supply a production line from the Danish mechanical engineering firm Eldan for the recycling of used OTR and truck tires with a total investment volume of about 2 million EUR.
In the first step, Ferrostaal will begin by supplying a machine which will be integrated into Polambiente’s existing production line. The machine is designed to cut 50–300mm sections of OTR and truck tires into 15–20mm pieces and has an estimated capacity of up to 4t per hour. The delivery is scheduled for December 2012, and the installation and commissioning will take place in January 2013. The unit will increase Polambiente’s current productivity by 25%, in order to obtain 8,000 tons a year.
