Ferromatik Production Stays in Germany for Now
Injection molding machines of the Ferrromatik brand will be produced at the Malterdingen production site at least two years longer than originally planned. This is what Milacron Holding Corp. said in the beginning of June. As a reason for this change of policy the company mentions order books well filled with orders from all over Europe, until the first quarter of 2018. On May, 31, Milacron made an agreement with their works council to change contracts, and, in some cases, rehire dismissed employees.
In March 2016, Milacron had announced to move manufacturing and assembly of the machines from Malterdingen, Germany, to the new works in the Czech Republic, even before the end of 2017. According to a press release, though, the manufacturer currently assumes production in Germany will continue until the end of 2019. However, this would not mean a change in the general decision to move production. The company nevertheless stressed that their aim was to maintain a strong presence in the south of Germany. In addition to service and sales, individualized adaption and approval of customized complex machines for, e.g., cube molds, PE, co-injection and automation systems, will remain at the Malterdingen site.
