Federplast.be: Second Life for PVC Windows
Attended by the local press and in the presence of representatives of various authorities, aged PVC windows have been removed, recycled via the patented "link-trusion" process into new profiles, to be then reassembled into new windows which got a second life in the same house in Brussels where they originated from.
Thus the owner reused the same materials, albeit transformed using the latest technologies to new multi-chamber profiles which now fit double glazing – in fact the reason for the renovation was that his old profiles did not allow for that. The new profiles provide the owner a proven life of at least 50 years. This cycle is only possible thanks to the use of the most high-tech knowledge available today in recycling and co-extrusion, and can now be easily extended to seven times without any loss of quality.
The new development allows the Belgian plastics window industry to position itself among the most advanced and high-tech joinery sectors throughout Europe.
