EPSE, the European association representing Polycarbonate Sheet Producers, has recently annonced the winners of its 2013 Awards. Out of the 16 very successful projects submitted to this edition of awards, the jury selected the winners for the categories Innovation, Sustainability and Best Design.

In the category Innovation the first prize was awarded to the "Grotte de Salamandre" project by Sabic. The jury recognized it as very innovative that in this project building-integrated photovoltaic polycarbonate panel was used instead of glass. The jury believes that photovoltaic PC panel will find more extensive applications thanks to this innovation.

"Protoshop Lamborghini" by dott.gallina received the Sustainability Award. PC sheets employed in this project help to reduce conventional energy consumption by using the sun power to ensure the material’s efficiency.

In the Best Design category "Student Residence" by DS Smith Plastics won the 1st place. The jury found the application of polycarbonate in this project very original. Here, polycarbonate was applied in interior design.

Around 60 participants attended the Ceremony which was led by the EPSE President Jean-Philippe Coste. Professor Ewa Kuryłowicz (architect and Vice-President at Kuryłowicz & Associates Sp. z o.o.) handed over the trophies, brightly coloured artworks made in polycarbonate by the Italian artist Davide Dall’Osso.

EPSE Awards is a biannual event and the 7th edition will take place in 2015.
