Energy Efficiency at Husky Milton

Congressman Peter Welch and Acting Director of the Council on Environmental Quality, Mike Boots, visited Husky’s Milton manufacturing plant with Efficiency Vermont, an organization that works with companies around the state to streamline their operations, discussing various energy efficiency projects Husky has implemented over the past decade.

In total, Husky has executed 241 energy efficiency improvement projects over six Husky campuses. The company has saved approximately USD 2 million in the last decade via energy saving measures alone. Some of the most notable projects executed successfully in Milton include:

  • Central Machine Coolant System Tuning - Studied and adjusted pressure setting to minimize pump outputs on system - Saved USD 110K and 1,200,000 kWh annually
  • Facility Lighting - Replaced 530 metal halide high bay fixtures with fluorescent fixtures - Saved USD 66K and 1,000,000 kWh annually
  • Off Hours Machine Shutdown - Studied utility usage on machines while idle, e-stopped and shut down to determine impact when not in use on weekend nights - Saved USD36K and 600,000 kWh annually
