dvi: Deregulation of Packaging Sizes
European Parliament’s proposal to deregulate packaging sizes provides for the rescinding of the current directive, which stipulates particular packaging sizes at national or European level. This will exclude wine and spirits. There will also be transition periods for requisites such as milk, coffee, pastas, butter and white sugar. The new directive is scheduled to come into force in spring 2009. The German Packaging Institute (dvi), Berlin, Germany, welcomes the deregulation of packaging sizes.
