Dow: PP Production Stop in Terneuzen
Dow Europe GmbH has stopped production of all its polystyrene grade resins at its plant in Terneuzen, Netherlands, effective the week of July 21, 2008. In addition, Dow continues to run other PP units in Europe at reduced rates. According to the company, these actions were taken to address the recent surge in energy and hydrocarbon feedstock cost. Dow wants to restore its margins in the polystyrene business and plans to do so through price increases and asset decisions like the current one.
