Continental Wins Arburg Energy Efficiency Award
Continental, one of the world’s leading automotive suppliers, has won the Arburg Energy Efficiency Award 2012 for its energy management activities. The award ceremony took place on March 13 in front of some 50 invited guests at Arburg’s headquarters in Lossburg, Germany, on the evening before the company’s annual “Technology Days”. Continental was represented by a delegation from Continental Automotive GmbH in Babenhausen, Germany, headed by plant manager Karlheinz Boguslawski. Arburg presents the award annually to a company that takes a comprehensive and global approach to the subject of energy efficiency. Continental aims to reduce total energy consumption by 15 % per manufactured part and cut CO2 emissions by at least 3 % annually in all its plants worldwide by 2015. One of many measures to achieve these targets is the use of electric injection molding machines. In addition, systematic energy management in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001 was introduced at all Continental Automotive sites worldwide at the beginning of 2011.
