Call for Entries in SPE Thermoforming Parts Competition

The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Thermoforming Division has announced a call for entries in its annual Parts Competition, showcasing the latest advances in thermoforming design and application. The submission deadline is July 31, 2015.

The parts entered in the Competition will be on display during the 24th SPE Thermoforming Conference, which will be held Aug 31-Sep 2 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Awards for winning parts will be presented at the Thermoforming Awards Dinner on Tuesday, September 1.

Competition entrants may submit parts in several categories, depending on the type of thermoforming operation:

  • Roll-fed categories are Industrial, Medical, or Food.
  • Heavy-gauge categories are Vacuum Form, Pressure Form, and two new categories: Twin Sheet and TPO.
  • Combined. Entrants may submit parts comprised of recycled material (minimum 40% recycled content), which include Value Added Assembly and represent Innovation.

“The theme of the 2015 Conference is, ‘Getting Back to Basics,’” said Matt O’Hagan, 2015 Parts Competition Chair. “Along with an exciting group of technical session speakers and in-depth thin gauge, heavy gauge and extrusion workshops, we expect this year’s part submissions will showcase the continual procession of success stories in our industry.”

Guidelines for Competition entrants and the required product entry form are posted online. All product images and descriptions must be emailed to Matt O’Hagan at Matt.Ohagan@lyondellbasell.com by the July 31 deadline.
