BASF: Research Centre in Asia
BASF AG of Ludwigshafen/Germany opened its first research centre for nanotechnology in Singapore/Asia. A total of EUR 13 million is planned to be invested into the new centre until 2008. A team of 20 employees, mostly scientists and laboratory technicians will be working at the new facility. The competence centre will focus on the modification of nanostructure surfaces and deal with projects such as the search for a solution to the problem of biofouling. While BASF is currently operating 17 R+D centres in the Asian/Pacific region, this is the first centre with a focus on nanotechnology.
